Winter highlights include Stuttgarter Philharmoniker tour, recitals with Renée Fleming, and Tchaikovsky cycle

The winter season sees Olga Kern focusing on the piano concerti of Tchaikovsky in Europe and the United States. The pianist begins 2015 with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker where she reprises her account of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Milan (January 21) as well as the German cities of Weingarten (January 24), Stuttgart (January 25), and Fürth (January 27) with conductor Daniel Raiskin.

In February, Olga ventures to Michigan to reunite with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where Tchaikovsky once again takes center stage. Under the baton of Leonard Slatkin, Olga plays all three of the composer’s piano concerti in three separate programs on February 12 & 13, February 14 & 15, and February 21 & 22. The cycle is presented as part of the orchestra’s Tchaikovsky Festival, and all three performances will be webcast as part of the DSO’s popular Live from Orchestra Hall series.

Before, during, and after her dates with the DSO, Olga also gives an East Coast recital tour with soprano Renée Fleming. Performances take place in Boston (February 8), Norfolk, VA (February 17), Charlottesville, VA (February 20), Washington, DC (February 23), and Key Largo, FL (February 26).
