Olga Kern’s fall season highlights Rachmaninoff concerti, recital programs, and more
Olga Kern launches her 2014-15 concert season with Leonard Slatkin and the Orchestre National de Lyon. Following two concerts on September 18 and 20 that include Beethoven’s Triple Concerto led by Maestro Slatkin and also featuring cellist Sol Gabetta and violinist Baiba Skride, Olga will join members of the orchestra for chamber works by Ravel, Gershwin, and Schubert (September 21).
From there, Olga tours Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Anchorage (September 27), Nashville (October 3, 4), and Madison (October 17, 18, 19). She also performs the composer’s third piano concerto with the Colorado Symphony on October 10, 11, and 12.
In Europe, Olga gives two concerts with the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech city of Ostrava on October 30 and 31, performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. In November, Olga returns to South Africa for works by Haydn and Prokofiev with the Cape Town Orchestra (November 20), preceded by a recital in Cape Town’s Baxter Concert Hall on November 15.
